What’s the Difference Between Faux Wood & Real Wood?
Our faux wood blinds are a popular choice for those looking for the natural look of wooden blinds, but with added benefits thanks to their PVC slats. They are highly resistant to moisture, making them an ideal choice for bathrooms and kitchens. Real wood blinds on the other hand, are a great choice for an authentic finish full of warmth and are often used for living areas and bedrooms.
Faux wood is also more affordable than real wooden blinds, making them a great option for those on a budget. However, if you’re after a premium finish, then our real wood blinds can’t be beat! For a full comparison, see our comparison guide on Faux Wood vs. Real Wood Blinds.
What are the Benefits of Wooden Blinds?
All of our wooden blinds offer a range of benefits from easy operation to light control, and heat retention. Real wood blinds are naturally insulating making them energy-efficient, helping to keep your home warm in winter and cool in summer. On the other hand, our faux wood blinds are durable and moisture resistant perfect for busy households! Fully made to measure, all our wooden blinds can fit even the most unusual windows meaning you can find small, large, and bay window wooden blinds for your home easily.
How do Wooden Blinds Work?
Wooden blinds are operated using the supplied control cords. Each blind features cords to control vertical movement up and down and cords to control slat position, offering total ease of use. The cords on the left of your blinds can be used to tilt and open the slats, while the cords on the right can be used to lift the slats up fully.
How to Fit Wooden Blinds
Fitting wooden blinds is incredibly simple thanks to our step-by-step fitting instructions. You can find our fitting instructions online but will also receive paper instructions with your order.
How to Measure for Wooden Blinds
How you measure for wooden blinds will depend if you want your blinds fitted within the recess our mounted on the wall above your window. You can find step-by-step instructions on how to do this in our measuring guide.
How to remove Wooden Blinds
If you need remove your wooden blinds, this can be done by simply releasing them from the brackets. First you should raise the blinds fully so the wooden slats are all stacked. Once stacked, locate the brackets at the top or sides of the window frame and unclip the headrail. If you need to remove the brackets, this can be done by simply unscrewing them with a drill or screwdriver.
How to Clean Wooden Blinds?
If you’re blinds are starting to look a bit lacklustre, it might be time to give them a clean. To clean wooden blinds, you can use a soft cloth or feather duster to remove any dust and debris. This should be done regularly as part of your cleaning routine. For a deeper clean, you may be able to use a damp cloth with a gentle cleaning solution to wipe down each slat individually. Although, be sure to dry the blinds thoroughly to avoid water damage. For more information on how to clean wooden venetian blinds, see our cleaning guide below.

How Much are Wooden Blinds?
The cost of wooden blinds can vary widely depending on factors such as size, style, and the quality of the materials used. On average, you can expect to spend anywhere from £20 to £200 or more on wooden blinds. Premium options like our wooden blinds with tapes will generally cost slightly more than classic wooden blinds with strings. Do Wooden Blinds Keep Heat In?
Wood is a natural insulator which makes our real wood blinds a great option if you’re looking to block out the winter chill. However, they are not as effective at retaining heat as other window treatments such as thermal curtains, thermal lined roman blinds, or honeycomb cellular blinds. If you’re looking for blinds that keep heat in your home, take a look at our thermal blinds.
How to Clean Greasy Wooden Blinds?
If you have wooden kitchen blinds, there’s a good chance at some point they’ll develop a film from cooking fat or oil. This is more likely to happen if your blinds are particularly close to your cooker or fryer. To clean greasy wooden blinds, you can use a solution of warm water and washing up liquid to break down the grease. Apply the solution with a well wrung out cloth and wipe each slat down gently being careful not to soak the wood.
We usually recommend faux wood blinds for kitchens as they can be wiped down and withstand more moisture making them easier to clean. For more information, see our guide on How to Wash Wooden Blinds.
Are Wooden Blinds Blackout?
Wooden blinds provide adequate shading and privacy when closed, however they unfortunately aren’t fully blackout due to their venetian style design. Even when the slats are closed and the blind is lowered, small amounts of light will be let in due to the tensioned through-strings. If you’re looking for wooden blackout blinds, you won’t be able to find them as all venetian style blinds will let small amounts of light in. This is why we recommend you pair wooden bedroom blinds with blackout curtains for complete privacy and darkness. For more information see our guide on Are Wooden Blinds Blackout.
If you’d rather, we also offer a range of other blackout blinds including blackout rollers, blackout roman blinds, and more.
Are Venetian Blinds Wooden?
At Unbeatable Blinds we offer a wide range of venetian blinds including our wooden venetian blinds, faux wood venetian blinds, and aluminium venetian blinds. Each type has its own features and benefits, suiting various interior styles.
