How to measure windows for curtains?

To measure windows for curtains, you’ll need to determine the width of your curtain pole/track and the drop from here down to the window sill or floor. First, you should measure the entire length of your curtain pole or track. If your track overlaps, you should measure both and add your measurements together for the total width. Next, measure the length from your pole or track down to the window sill, or wherever you want the curtains to end.

How to choose curtains for a living room?

When choosing curtains for a living room, consider factors such as the style of your home and the look you want to achieve, the colour of the walls and furniture, the amount of light you want to let in, and the level of privacy you need. You can also consider the type of fabric and lining, such as light-filtering or room-darkening, and the type of heading, such as Pencil Pleat or Eyelet.

How to hang curtains?

To hang curtains, you’ll need to install a curtain rod and brackets if you don’t already have one. Measure the width of the window and choose a curtain rod or track that fits that measurement. Install the brackets on the wall above the window, and then hang the curtain rod on the brackets. Finally, hang the curtains on the rod, making sure they’re even and spaced properly. How to hang pencil pleat curtains?

To hang pencil pleat curtains, you’ll need to start by tying the cords at one end of the heading tape, leaving the other side untied so you can gather the curtain. Next, check your width and start to gather the pleats at the top of the curtains to create a neat, compact header. Make sure to pull the cords evenly so that the pleats stay even and once you are happy you can tie the cords. Next, loop the curtain hooks through the back of the header tape on the curtains, and then hang the curtains on the rod or track, pulling the gathers up to the top of the rod.

How to measure for eyelet curtains?

To measure for eyelet curtains, you’ll want to start by feeding each eyelet over the curtain pole, ensuring that the leading edge of the curtain is pointing in towards the middle of the window. This is where your curtains will meet in the middle. For a clean finish, position the eyelets equally across the pole to ensure you get an even gathering of fabric. It’s as simple as that! Sometimes it can be useful to use spacers to help you achieve a professional finish.
