Louvres are the horizontal, elliptical-shaped slats that you can tilt open or closed. They sit central within the shutter panels and can be angled to maintain privacy while still allowing light and air to enter your space.

63mm slats – Our smallest slat allows slightly less light into your space but is often chosen for particularly small windows as it looks more proportional.

76mm slats – The most popular choice as they allow plenty of natural light without compromising on privacy. Works well in small, medium & large windows.

89mm slats – Great if you're looking to optimise the amount of natural light in your space. A popular choice for large windows.

Larger louvres will allow more light to enter your space when they're tilted open as the gaps between them are larger.

The number of panels your window requires is dependent on the width measurement you provide as well as personal preference. Based on the number of panels you require, you'll be able to choose from a few different layouts.

Shutter frames are used to secure your shutter panels within your window recess. They act as a mounting surface ensuring your panels stay secure and function properly.

L Frames

L Frames are typically used for installations inside the recess, providing a clean, minimalist finish. With this option, you're free to position them where you want within your recess opening.

Please Note: If your window is more than 15mm out of square, L Frames aren't typically suitable.

Z Frames

Z frames are made specifically for fitting your shutter on the edge of your window recess. Their extra trim extends outside the recess opening and sits flush against your wall, providing a neat finish.

Please Note: if your window is more than 15mm out of square, you should select a Z frame.

Depending on your window, you may require caulking to cover any gaps around the frame once your shutter is installed.

Once you've selected your frame type, you'll need to decide how you want the shutter to be framed. The options available will depend on the shutter style and frame type chosen.

All Round

This frame fully encloses the window on all four sides, creating a complete border. It's typically chosen for both inside and outside recess installations.

All Round with Sill Bar

If your window has a protruding sill and you want to fit a Z frame, this is the option you'll require. Z frames for the top, left, and right sides, with an L frame for the bottom to account for the windowsill.

Left, Right, Top

Provides support on the left, right, and top edges but leaves the bottom open. A good option for small or medium windows — no obstructions on the windowsill.

Left, Right, Bottom

Covers the left, right, and bottom edges without a top frame piece. Select this for café style shutters when your window doesn't have a windowsill.

Left, Right, Sill Bar

For café style shutters with a Z frame and a protruding windowsill. Z frames for the left and right sides, with an L frame for the bottom.

Available on Full Height styles, mid-rails add strength and stability to your shutters and allow you to operate the top and bottom sections of slats independently.

If you require a mid-rail, you'll need to provide a mid-rail height. Simply measure from where the shutter will sit (usually on the sill) up to the centre where you want the mid rail to be. Mid rails are generally placed halfway up, or where you find a transom.

The measurement given must be at least 400mm from both the top and bottom edges of the shutter.

Please Note: To ensure stability, a mid-rail is required for all panels over 1524mm high & 609mm wide, or those with a drop exceeding 1700mm.

When choosing a tier-on-tier style shutter, you must provide a divide height measurement. This is the point at which you want the shutter to split in half.

Simply measure from the bottom of where the shutter will be installed (usually the windowsill) up to the centre of where you wish the panels to split into top/bottom tiers.

Please Note: Your divide height must be at least 300mm from the bottom and top of the shutter. For example, if your drop is 1000mm your divide height must fall between 300-700mm.

Please Note: A supportive T-Post will be provided by default for all tier-on-tier shutters. This is to ensure stability and provide an anchor point for the top and bottom sets of panels.

Our standard hinges are made from mild steel with a painted or electroplated finish. These will be colour matched to your shutter.

We recommend choosing stainless steel hinges if you're installing your shutters in a humid environment such as bathrooms.

Please Note: the quantity of hinges supplied will depend on the height of the shutter.
